Have you ever been excluding from a group just because your clothes didn’t fit in with the rest of the group? They gossip so much they could fill a bucket full of rumors they may not even be true? We see them every day wishing we could be a part of them. They are called a clique. That basically everyone wants to be with.
The Clique by Lisi Harrison is about four girls that are really rich. You have Massie the leader of the pack. You have Dylan who sucks up to Massie and is also trying to go down a size in pants. You have Alicia she is sneaky and would love to take Massie’s place in the clique. You have Kristen she is smart, hard working, and can insult you to tears. Entering Claire Lyons she is not very rich. She comes from Florida wearing her GAP jeans and her Keds tennis shoes and you can tell you she doesn’t fit in to well.
The mode of literature is comedy and comedy doesn’t necessarily have to be funny. It all starts off in normal reality Massie is excited to be going with her friends for some Labor Day shopping. But then her mom Kendra breaks the news and doesn’t want her to go shopping because Jay is one of Massie’s dad friends from college. She is so mad at her mother she stomps up to her room and starts to cry. Then a minor conflict arises when Claire arrives and tries to become friends with Massie, Massie still really ticked off that her mom made her cancel her plans. But the conflict gets worse when Claire later on sneaks into her room and starts im ing her friends pretending she is Massie when Massie has to walk Bean her dog. When Kristen tells Clarie the biggest secret thinking she is Massie. When Massie returned to her im did a ding and Kristen said “Please Don’t tell anyone not even for Gossip Points”. It all ends when the clique figures out was Claire. Also Massie and her start to become friends at the end. Then she has a list that’s in and out and Claire is in both so she made a new column called W.A, S wait and see is what it meant.
Overall when a clique call you don’t stoop down to their level that’s what they want you to do to see the reaction. When they don’t see it they have nothing to pick on you about and they just leave you alone.
